The Blackwood Football Club junior boys have been awarded for the outstanding seasons polling well at their retrospective mail medal counts this week.

HFL Junior and Senior Colts

In the HFL Junior Colts (Under 16s) presentation on Monday evening, Zac Venning finished runner up polling 16 votes to finish five behind the equal winners from Hahndorf and Onkaparinga Valley. Venning polled in seven different matches picking up best on grounds in Round 15 against Mt Lofty and Round 17 against Uraidla Districts.

The evening was an even spread for the team which picked up 92 of 108 possible votes across the 18 minor rounds with 14 individual players polling at least one vote, the equal highest number of players to poll votes. Noah Brown finished in equal fifth position with 13 votes whilst Eduard van den Berg finished inside the top 10 with 11 votes.

In the Senior Colts (Under 18s) the Woods polled the 74 votes, the highest of any team in the competition. Tom Brown, Jonah Duperouzel and Troy Hocking all polled 10 votes to finish in equal 10th position, nine votes behind the winner from Hahndorf. A breakdown of the votes shows the Woods had the best player on the ground in 12 of 18 matches.

The Mini Colts (Under 14s) count is set to be held next Monday evening.

SANFL Under 13s

In the SANFL Under 13s count, Max Jones finished runner up. In his first season at the Blackwood Football Club, Jones played 12 matches polling 21 votes to finish seven behind the winner from the Henley Sharks Football Club.

Junior Coach of the Year

The evening also saw Junior Colts coach, Matt Waldron be awarded the ‘HFL Junior Coach of the Year’. In his first season as a coach, Waldron took the team to second position on the ladder with 16 wins and 2 losses.
