The Blackwood Football Club has named an unchanged side for the first time in 2018 for this weekend’s Semi Final against the Mt Barker Football Club. From Round 2 to the Elimination Final last Sunday, coach Damien Salievic has made an average of 2.4 changes per week (44 in total). “It’s nice to be able to go unchanged at the right end of the season and finally get some continuity in the side.” said Salievic on Thursday evening.

“Sunday poises to be an exciting match. Both sides probably look to play a similar way, moving the ball quickly and leg speed. Uraidla Oval will be in great nick and provide a great venue for the contest.”

The Woods have played Mt Barker twice in 2018 with both sides winning on one occasion. In Round 7 the Woods secured a 12 point victory whilst in Round 14 the Roos kicked eight goals to four after quarter time to record a 20 point victory.

Sunday will also be the first time the Woods have played in a first Semi-Final in eight years with the last time occurring on 5th of September 2010. Playing the Mt Lofty Football Club (also at Uraidla Oval) the Woods got the jump on the Devils in the first quarter kicking three goals to one. Only managing to score another three majors the Woods were over-run to go down by 21 points, 6.5 (41) to 9.8 (62). On that day Troy Edwards was named best player with Blake Davies kicking two majors.

In the twos, Tyson Aiston and Lachlan Furness return to the line-up. For Furness he returns his first game since Round 17 against Uraidla Districts whilst Aiston returns after missing last Sundays Elimination Final.
