The Blackwood Football Club would like to announce Daniel ‘Buckets’ Lowe as B Grade coach for season 2020.

Lowe – who has over 250 games of senior playing experience across the Blackwood, Hackham and Noarlunga Football Clubs – returns to the Woods after one year as an A Grade Assistant at Port Noarlunga. Prior to that, he coached Blackwood’s C Grade side from 2015-2017, winning two premierships and 87.8% of all games during that time. He says returning to the Woods was an easy decision.

“It was a no-brainer for me to come back to the Blackwood Football Club, where I have experienced some success. Knowing the significant work that has been put into our Junior program, and also by the senior coaching group over the last few years, I see this as one of the best jobs in SA Footy.

“To have the opportunity to work with Broady (Senior Colts coach Jacob Broad) and Ando (A Grade coach Ryan Anderson) and the other coaches to develop our youth is a significant draw card for me in returning to this amazing football club. We are all aligned with where we see the football club heading.”

Since 2010, the Woods’ B Grade side has been the most successful in the competition making the finals in every season, winning 80.1% of minor round matches and winning four premierships from five Grand Final appearances.

Lowe says he aims to curate a tight-knit bond between the players, and a Reserves set-up that will serve as a breeding ground for future A Grade talent.

“Over the last year, I feel I have grown as a coach in my ability to build strong and sustainable relationships by providing honest, timely and constructive feedback to the playing group that is aligned to our values.

“I’m looking forward to seeing the group grow throughout the season by bringing mates together to play fun, exciting and fast football.

“My measure of success is to develop the group and have players within our group playing consistently high levels of A Grade Football.

“The values I will be looking at ensuring we have as a group are to be relentless, inclusive, respectful and always positive no matter what situation we face.

The club would like to thank Nick McCarthy for the past two seasons in his role as B Grade coach. McCarthy coached the side to successive HFL first semi-finals with the team winning a 55.3% of games across the two seasons.

Senior Men’s Pre-Season for season 2020 commences next Tuesday the 26th of November from 6.15pm at U-Install-It Kitchens Oval.
