James Hopton and Lucas Herbert have joined a 23-player extended squad named by Senior Coach Ryan Anderson for this Saturday’s Round 7 match against the Hahndorf Magpies.

Hopton joins the squad for the first time since Round 2 against Onkaparinga Valley whilst Herbert finds himself named in the A Grade for the first time since the successful 2017 Grand Final. Speaking at selection on Thursday evening, Anderson said the side was ready for the match. “We’ve had a solid week on the track. The players are looking forward to the match this weekend.”

Jake Atkinson has also been named to play his 50th senior match in the red and the green. After making his debut in Round 4 of 2014, Atkinson moved to the Woods permanently in 2015. Since this time he has played 48 of a total 84 matches missing 36 matches through injury and unavailability. In the 49 senior matches played for the Woods, he has kicked 57 goals (1.16 per game) and been named in the better players 30.6 percent of the time.

In the B Grade, Nathan Dudley, Luke Evans, Denam Moore and Ryder Tatarelli coming to the side for the top of the table clash. Tatarelli returns to play his first game since Round 14 of 2017 having had multiple injury setbacks. In the C Grade, Luke Hocking, Rhys Matthews, Matthew McNaight, Henry Spurr and Brody Stewart come into the side to face the Bridgewater-Callington Raiders on Sunday afternoon at Bridgewater Oval.

For the Senior Colts, they have a raft of changes with Harri Bailye, Nik Gacic, Dylan Scarborough, Matthew Tee, Eduard Vandenberg, Zac Venning, Luke Warburton and Sam Zevenboom coming into the selected squad.
