Junior Colts Blackwood 5.3 (33) drew with Nairne Bremer 4.9 (33)

The ladder leading Junior Colts had their first draw in a number of seasons with Nairne Bremer coming from behind at half time to claim a draw. Jumping out, the Woods lead by 5 points at the first break and 9 points at the main break despite having one less scoring shot that the hosting Nairne side. The Rams kept pushing hard in the second half with the scores deadlocked at full time. Will Torode kicked two majors to take his tally to 15 for the season whilst Patrick Hall was named best player.

Under 15 Blackwood 6.4 (40) defeated by Flagstaff Hill 11.10 (76)

The Woods recorded their second loss to the Falcons inside of three weeks going by 36 points. The Woods got jumped in the first half with the Falcons kicking eight goals to only one for the Woods. Showing some great spirit, the team dug deep in the second half and take some confidence into next week outscoring Flagstaff Hill 5.2 (32) to 3.3 (21).

Under 13 Blackwood 27.22 (184) defeated Lockleys 0.1 (1)

The Woods recorded their second win of the season, having an amazing 49 scoring shots and kicking 27 majors to win by 183 points. The side had 11 different goal scores with Cian Hatton leading the way with five majors. The side now sits in fourth position on the ladder a win behind third place.

Under 12 Blackwood 18.10 (118) defeated Unley 1.0 (6)

The Under 12s side recorded their fifth victory of 2020 travelling to Kingswood Oval to defeat the Unley Jets by 112 points. Ten individual players hit the scoreboard with goals with Jackson Mueller and Cameron Wildy each kicking three majors. The side now sits on top of the ladder by percentage with the statistics showing they have the best defence in the competition.

Women and Girls

Open Women’s Blackwood 1.3 (9) defeated by Uraidla Districts 5.11 (41)

The Open Women’s side recorded their first loss of 2020 going down by 32 points to the reigning premiers. Scarlett Griffiths was the only goal scorer for the Woods who battled hard all match with Taylah Jayne, Harsimrat Dhaliwal, Griffiths, Michaela Collins, Lily Brook named as the best players. After other results the Woods now sit in fourth position on percentage with the top four sides all on the same points.

Under 16 SANFL Blackwood 5.4 (34) defeated Goodwood Saints 2.6 (18)

The all-conquering side currently sit equal top of the ladder after recording their 21st straight victory when they defeated the Goodwood Saints. Leila-Grace Ward continued her outstanding form in front of goal kicking two goals to take her season tally to 17 majors
