A Grade

The Woods entered the match with four changes handing Troy Hocking and Sam Zevenboom debuts whilst James Hopton and Issac McCormick returned to the side. Kicking towards the primary school end of the first term, the Woods made an electric start kicking three goals in the opening nine minutes from Matt Tuck, Joel Aish and James Catford. Continuing to pile on the pressure the Woods mustered 12 shots in the term with a four major from long range goal to Jak Baldissera to see a 26-point lead at the first break.

Despite kicking against the breeze in the second term, the Woods were able to break even with the Demons during the quarter with two-goals from Ben Macreadie and Joel Aish nullifying majors to Simon Parker and Nick Amato for Uraidla. With Sam Zevenboom playing an outstanding first game in the ruck, the mosquito fleet on the ground applied pressure to the ball carrier of the Demons not allowing easy disposals. When the half time siren blew, the Woods had 19 shots to three to only lead by 31 points.

The Demons made the quick after the long break, registering the opening majors through Patrick Kepa after the initial centre break. With Scott Bricknell and Mat Tee repelling the attacks of the Demons, the Woods were able to step on the accelerator kicking three majors in quick succession. Goals to Aish (including a magical snap from the forward pocket), Baldissera, James Catford, Ryan Dijksman, Evan Johnson saw the margin extend to 63 points at the final break.

Coach Ryan Anderson urged his players to finish off the game in the final term as he addressed the huddle at three quarter time. First gamer Troy Hocking set up Ryan Dijksman the middle part of the final term, applied pressure across the top of the 50, the Woods were able to turn the ball over, Hocking picked up the loose ball, Hocking snapped across his body on his left boot, the ball dribbled to the goal square as Dijksman out ran Demons defender Robert Kepa to score a simple soccer goal from the square. When the ball snuck over the back of a contest in the 17th minute, Evan Johnson was able to pounce and run into the open goal to kick the third goal of the quarter and 15th of the match for the Woods as they ran out 66 point winner when the final siren sounded.

Scott Bricknell was awarded as best player for the side for his efforts down back whilst Ben Macreadie, Sam Zevenboom, Mat Tee and Jak Baldissera were also rewarded for their efforts.
