The Blackwood Football Club has a new club captain with Ryan Dijksman elevated into the role for the 2020 Mortgage Choice Hills Football League. Dijksman takes over the role from four-time Moulden Medallist Kurt Thompson after four seasons in the role.

“It’s a privilege and a massive honour to be named captain of this great club, it’s something I will cherish for the rest of my career.” stated Dijksman.

The 25 year-old made his debut for the red and the green in 2016 and has since played 71 games where he has kicked 120 goals and been named in the better players on 20 occasions (28.1 percent). He was a member of the 2017 A Grade premiership side which he also won the leading goal kicker award with 47 majors. He was also the A Grade leading goal kicker for the 2018 season kicking 38 majors.

“I’m super excited for the upcoming season with some new faces and some quality young kids coming through who i’m looking forward to helping through their first year. There’s such a great feeling around the club at the moment and can’t wait to get into the season.”

Dijksman will be supported by Jake Atkinson and Matt Tuck who take on the vice-captain positions whilst Daniel Benson, James Hopton, Phil Hopton, Tom Radford and Jan Warbout form up the rest of the Senior Mens Leadership Group.
