The Blackwood Football Club Women’s team has suffered 30-point loss to ladder leaders Happy Valley on Saturday evening. Despite going down by five goals, the team had a much-improved performance compared to the first match between the side closing the gap by 84 points and keeping Happy Valley to their second lowest score of the season.

In a special occasion, the team donned the Blackwood Football Club Indigenous guernsey playing in front a large crowd post the completion of the Men’s A Grade fixture. Battling hard in heavy conditions, the Woods managed to keep the game in a close and contested style not allowing the Vikings to use their outside running assets. Trailing by 21 points at the major break, the Woods lifted in the second half kicking two goals in the period which also included outscoring Happy Valley in the last quarter.

Tamika May continued her outstanding form across the season being awarded best player for her efforts in the ruck whilst Harsimrat Dhaliwal, Brie Medder, Kelsey Clare and Sakura Zubrinich were rewarded for their performances being named in the best players.

After other results, the Woods remain in fifth position on the ladder with games to come against fourth placed Gaza, seventh placed Scotch OC and eighth placed Pulteney in the remaining three games of the season.
