The Blackwood Football Club Women’s side has fallen to its second defeat of 2021 losing by 114 points to a strong Happy Valley side on Saturday afternoon.

The Woods entered the clash looking to bounce back from a defeat against Old Ignatians the weekend before making a competitive start in the opening quarter. Star forward Brie Medder got the Woods on the scoreboard kicking her six goal for the season.

Against an experienced side featuring some SANFLW players, the Woods defence was put under pressure facing multiple inside 50 entries. Struggling to contact the Happy Valley side after quarter time, the Woods conceded 12 goals in the final three quarters whilst only managing one further behind for the match.

Midfielder Kelly Whitehead was named best player on the day whilst Tayla Zuvich, Tyler Attiwill, Libby Willetts and Amelia Ludlam also featured in the better players.

Next weekend, the Woods will be looking to bounce back travelling to Klemzig Oval to play the fifth placed Gaza Eagles at 4.45pm on Saturday afternoon.
