The Blackwood Football Club Women’s side has returned to the winners list staging a remarkable come back victory against Gaza on Saturday evening.

The Woods entered the clash looking to bounce back from successive defeats against Old Ignatians and Happy Valley making several changes to the side including Ebony Barrenger making her debut in the red and the green.

The home side got the jump on the Woods kicking the opening two goals of the match to lead by 12 points at the first break. Regrouping at quarter time after some advice from the coaching group, the Woods pulled the margin back to seven points at the main break. Being kept goalless in the third term, the Woods trailed by 11 points at the start of the last term. Digging deep, the side got the momentum beginning to find run and quick ball movement. Kicking three goals to none for the quarter, the Woods over-ran the Eagles to record a memorable victory.

Midfielder Kelly Whitehead was named best player for the second week in a row whilst Tyler Attiwell, Ebony Barrenger and Kelsey Clare also featured in the better players.

Next weekend, the Woods will be looking to secure their fourth victory facing Scotch Old Collegians at home on Saturday afternoon.
