The Blackwood Football Club is pleased to announce the appointment of Simon Manser to the role of Under 17.5 girls coach for Season 2022.

Manser assumes the role having coached the girls side for the last three seasons progressing from the Under 14s in 2019, Under 16s in 2020 and most recently coaching the team in 2021 when the side made the preliminary final.

Manser said he was looking forward to coaching the side this season, with the team to work closely with the Women’s side, including combined training sessions.

“I am really excited about working alongside Damien Venning and the Senior Women’s group this season. We have a hugely talented squad of players with an exciting opportunity ahead.”

“Coaching is something I have enjoyed immensely within the Blackwood Football Club. The dedicated group of volunteers at the Woods has enabled the club to continue to develop and prosper and realise success both on and off the field. I am aware that not every club has such a positive and inclusive culture and that is also a significant drawcard for me.”

“For me coaching is about more than the opportunity to give back to the local community but is about contributing to the development of girls AFL, and fundamentally working with young people to develop their skills, fitness and teamwork.”

“It is highly rewarding to start working with a team at the commencement of the season and see the progression of confidence and skills based on the work you have been doing with them.”

Pre-Season for the Under 17 girls side will kick off on Wednesday 2 February 2022 from 6.30pm at KX Pilates Blackwood Oval.

Keep an eye out for upcoming announcements around other junior coaches & training for the upcoming season.
