Join us on Saturday the 17th of July when we host our third Axemen’s Luncheon of the 2021 season. The day will be held during Round 13 of the Police Credit Union Hills Football League when the Woods play the Mt Lofty Devils. The luncheon will be highlighted by special guest speaker, 6 time Norwood Best & Fairest Winner and SANFL Hall of Fame Member Michael Taylor.

Known as ‘Kingo’ after his hometown , Michael captained the Redlegs from 1978 to 1980, winning club best and fairest awards during those three seasons before moving over the border in 1981 as one of several high-priced recruits to join the Collingwood Football Club. Playing mainly in the back pocket, he gave the Magpies outstanding service clocking up 92 VFL games over the next four years including the 1981 VFL Grand Final which they lost to Carlton.

In 1985, he returned to Norwood with plenty of good football still left in him and carried on for three further seasons to take his final tally of SANFL games to 267. He also played 13 times for South Australia. After playing, he took up coaching leading the Collingwood reserves side, being assistant coach at the Adelaide Crowds and being the West Adelaide coach from 1996-2001.
