Attention:  Blackwood Football Club Members

Subject: Proposed New Unisex Change Room Facility

Dear Members,

In recent times there has been a large focus on female participation in sport which has seen substantial growth in the AFL women’s league.

The Blackwood Football Club currently has four women’s teams including U12, U14, U16 and U18 and our U14 girls won the premiership in their inaugural year.

With growing female participation, the existing change rooms at the Blackwood Football Club are no longer satisfactory for female teams.

Consequently, we propose to develop a new standalone unisex facility that will equally support females, males, volunteer trainers and both female and male umpires who use the facilities weekly for both training and competition.

We are working closely with all stake holders including the Office of Recreation and Sport, Mitcham City Council, AFL and the SANFL to secure the necessary funding to complete this project.

While there are no guarantees that we will secure the required funding, we believe we have a strong application and will continue to pursue.

This is a substantial development for the club and accordingly we seek members’ consultation to confirm the proposed development meets the needs of all concerned.

Attached below for your reference is the following preliminary documentation

  1. Drawing no. A104 – Proposed Development Plan
  2. Drawing no. A-100 – Ausco Floor Plan
  3. Drawing no. A-200 – Ausco Elevations

A set of drawings will also be placed in the club rooms for members review and comments.

We welcome any feedback and/or questions prior to 30th January which can be re-laid via the attached link – Feedback re: Unisex Facilities.  Alternatively, if you would like to discuss the project in more detail please contact Nick Wilmshurst 0418 842 009 to arrange suitable time.

Thank you,

BFC Committee
