He’s done it again. Kurt Thompson has secured his fourth successive Moulden Medal in a thrilling count on Friday the 12th of October at the 2018 Moulden Medal held at U-Install-It Kitchens Oval.

Sitting in third place at the half way point of the season, Thompson stormed home in the last six rounds polling in every match to secure his fourth successive medal by 11 votes. Thompson becomes the first player in the history of the Blackwood Football Club to secure four Moulden Medals.

Finishing in second and third place was Ryan Anderson (83 votes) and Scott Bricknell (75 votes). In fourth place was Ryan Dijksman with 74 votes whilst Steve Woods rounded out the top 5 polling 60 votes.

The Moulden Medal votes were cast after each A-Grade minor round game with three individuals having a maximum of 15 votes to give in a 5,4,3,2,1 system.

Thompson acknowledged the honour of being the first player to secure four Moulden Medals. He stated “its an honour to win the medal for a fourth time. This club is honestly the best club I have been a part of. Everyone loves each other, it’s one family.”

He also acknowledged the tireless work of the board and volunteers around the club stating “from a Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday your work doesn’t go unnoticed. Thank you.” and also coaching staff including A-Grade coach Damien Salievic saying “From the minute I walked into the club everyone couldn’t speak highly enough of you.”
