The Blackwood Football Club has a new president after Kris Winchester was elected to the position at the 2017 AGM. Winchester takes over the position after Jason Burns vacated the position after 4 years in the role.

Winchester said in his first speech after he was elected ‘it’s a little bit daunting to be elected to lead such a wonderful club. I was approached 3 to 4 weeks ago by Burns to take over in the role. After coming up to watch my son play in the A Grade and to see the great friendships around the club, I thought it would be an exciting opportunity to take on.”

“The Blackwood Football Club is a great place, with great people and I am humble to follow in the footsteps of the committee beforehand. I look forward to taking the club forward in the coming years.”

Winchester takes over the role after Jason Burns elected to step down from the position after 4 years in the role. Burns said in his final speech to the club “It was an honour to lead the club; I couldn’t have done it without such wonderful people around me.”

Having taken over the president at the end of the 2013 season, Burns set about making the club a friendly that was open to all. He said “I believe we have achieved this. On the other side of the white line we produced a fiercely competitive, respected and proud team of both young men and women. I couldn’t be any prouder. The club is in a great position for the years to come.”
